Why send a separate invoice for a stock item and a service your company
provides to the same customer? Sage Line 50 allows you to send a single
invoice for both, saving your business time and money.
The invoicing functionality has been improved so that it is easier to use
the special S1, S2, S3 and M
stock codes. Using these æspecialÆ stock codes you can invoice for non-product
items that include tax or are tax exempt.
The new Multiple Deliver Addresses feature allows you to decide upon the
delivery address of a particular invoice, sales order or purchase order
from a list of customer, supplier or company addresses.
For example, if you are a construction company, your suppliers will usually
deliver directly to a building site. Now when you create a purchase order,
you can select the site address from your company delivery address list.
Sage Line 50 lets you keep a record of all the products you sell.
To work with your products, choose the Products option from the Sage Line
50 toolbar.
The following new features are available in the Products option of your
Sage Line 50 program;
Copy Matrix Option,
Automatic Stock Taking,

due, overdue or completed.
List the people you need to contact today and in the future and view any
contacts that are overdue or have been completed.
Record any bills you receive and view bills that are due for payment, overdue
or paid.
Find out how much your customers owe you and how much you owe your suppliers.

you can see at a glance which accounts are æon holdÆ,
over the credit limit, inactive etc.

View the status of your invoices, sales orders and purchase orders.

The Quick Ratio report allows you to see immediately the current æliquidityÆ position of your company based upon the data available. By comparing debit and credit balances, the program will show you the net balance. You can edit the quick ratio report to include the nominal accounts you want to compare.
Sage Line 50 v8 contains many reports set up for you automatically. Those reports that you run on a regular basis can be stored in a Favourites section within the Report Designer, and in your Sage Line 50 program.
Many businesses submit quotes in the hope of attracting new business.
You can create a quote from the Invoicing option by selecting Quote from
the Invoice type. If the customer decides to accept the quote, you can
then change the quote to an invoice by changing the invoice type to Invoice.
Alternatively, if the customer does not accept the quote, you can edit
the quote to include an improved price.
Proformas are used when you want a customer to pay for the goods before
they are despatched. You would use a proforma if you were sending a large
order to a new customer. When you receive the payment for the goods, you
would convert the proforma to an invoice by changing the invoice type
to Invoice. This enables you to update your customer record and stock
levels with the invoice details.
Note: You cannot convert a proforma or quote into a credit note.
If you attempt to do this a message appears. Click OK to continue.
Note: Quotes and proforma documents do not have any effect on the
customer record or the stock levels until they are converted to invoices.
The transactional-based management reports enable you to produce reports to give you the exact information you need to monitor your business performance. For example, you can run reports for specific departments to see how they are performing. You can also monitor trading progress for any accounting period, even by day or by week. This added flexibility gives you much greater control over the information you produce, making it easier for you to make decisions that are vital to your business.
If you have a lot of accounting data in your Sage Line 50 program, it
may take a long time to find the transaction that you need. Now there
are two types of search facility to help you access your data quickly
and easily.
The Global Search facility is available throughout Sage Line 50, and can
be defined for customers, suppliers, nominal accounts and product records,
as well as invoices and sales and purchase orders. You can even set up
and save a search that you use frequently, so that you can use it again
later.
Use the ActiveSearch
to speed up data entry. The ActiveSearch
works by finding the closest matches to what you are typing and displaying
them in a popup
list for you to select from. There are two types of ActiveSearch;
the Reference and Recent Items popup
list. The Reference popup
list finds the closest match as you begin typing a word. The Recent Items
list remembers the last 32 entries made in that field or list.
Not all businesses run a twelve-month financial year. You can now use the Change Financial Year facility to extend or shorten your financial year.
The Invoicing module has been streamlined so that it easier to create your invoices, sales orders, quotes and proformas.
It's even easier to keep your data safe. Your data is now automatically checked before you make a backup. The routine also remembers where your backup is to help prevent you from accidentally overwriting existing files when you restore your data.
The report facility has been reviewed and changed to create an improved
reporting tool. You can now e-mail reports to your business partners,
invoices to your customers and acknowledgement messages to your suppliers.
To help people new to report creation, we have also changed the Reporting
Wizard to make it more intuitive and easy-to-use.
There are more automated routines in your new Sage Line 50 v8 program. From disposing of fixed assets to creating a new report, routines have been automated or simplified to save you time and to simplify your everyday accounting tasks.
